This week, Inspector BABIP (that’s Batting Average on Balls In Play for new readers) compares four sets of players. All too often, we look at the names instead of the stats. Many times, the lesser name players are performing better or have a brighter outlook. After all, no one expected Edwin Encarnacion to be stomping Adrian Gonzalez in value. That is why we will strip away the names and analyze the stats before revealing which hitters are behind the numbers. You will be surprised to see some of the similarities below, and will be again next week when we examine pitchers.
