Dirk Nowitzki Could Be Done For The Season

Special from Virginia Zakas InsideInjuries.com April 3, 2017 8:10PM EDT
Sam Dekker HOU: left hand fracture

Dekker was involved in a collision on Sunday that resulted in a fractured left hand. Because it’s to his non-shooting hand, he may be able to return in 3-4 weeks and return to the Rockets’ lineup if they make a run in the playoffs. If Dekker were to return before the fracture is fully healed, he would need to wear a lot of protection on his hand, which could limit his performance. He is also at risk of suffering another hand fracture.

Rose is set to undergo his fourth knee surgery since 2012. That year he suffered a torn right ACL, then in 2013 and 2015 he had surgery on a torn meniscus. His season is now over because of a meniscus tear in his right knee. Rose can’t seem to stay healthy, and with a long, long list of lower body injuries, it’s hard to see him being very successful for the remainder of his career.

Dirk Nowitzki DAL: Achilles soreness

Nowitzki’s Achilles has flared up again.  He missed 22 games over the first few months of the season due to an Achilles injury but has felt good since his return. The pain popped up out of the blue on Sunday. With the Mavs out of the playoff hunt, they will be cautious with their veteran big man. He could miss the rest of the season.

Seth Curry DAL: left shoulder injury

In Friday’s game, Curry drove to the basket and re-aggravated his shoulder injury. He was clearly in pain after the contact and went to the locker room to be evaluated. Curry could return to the court sometime this week, but he will see how his shoulder responds to treatment. Yogi Ferrell is first in line to soak up Curry’s minutes, and he should see a nice bump in his Fantasy value.

Austin Rivers LAC: left hamstring strain

After injuring his left hamstring, Rivers could be forced to miss the first round of the playoffs. The Optimal Recovery Time for a grade 1 strain is three weeks, so that would keep him out through the end of the regular season. Jamal Crawford will be a more valuable Fantasy add with an uptick in minutes each night.

Jusuf Nurkic POR: nondisplaced right fibular fracture

Despite his diagnosis, Nurkic says he could return in as little as two weeks. He’s been a very important part of the lineup as the Blazers’ fight for the final playoff spot in the West. Nurkic said he had been playing through the pain for a few games, so he wasn’t surprised that he had a fibula fracture. The fracture will not be fully healed within two weeks, so if he does return to the court his mobility would be affected. He would also be putting a lot of stress on the injury, which could cause him to making it worse.
