Those six players demonstrate that at any given time, you may need to bench or remove someone from your Fantasy Baseball lineup either due to infectiveness, or unexpected injury, and you need to be prepared for it. You need to scour the big league box scores and monitor minor league statistics so that you’ll be the first player in your league to know which players are likely to get called up to the bigs first, when big league teams need to replace their own current crop of starters. I’ve identified some of these players for you in my inaugural Watch List column of 2017. You’ll recognize some names, but I’ve included others that you might not be aware of.

Pitchers Carlos Rodon, Junior Guerra, and Seth Lugo will be sidelined for several weeks. Justin Upton and Stephen Piscotty suffered injuries this week, and as of this writing, it is not yet known how serious they are. It’s way too early to panic, but Brewers’ outfielder Keon Broxton started the season hitless in his first eight at bats.
