Pitching and Hitting Planner – Week 2

Tim McCullough Managing Editor April 9, 2017 10:00PM EDT
Welcome to the Pitching Planner for Week 2. This week, in addition to providing our usual pitching rankings and some notes about the various starters, we will be introducing some hitting notes for you to consider. We’re not going to get too fancy here. Basically, we’re going to remind you about some simple advantages you can exploit each week to maximize the effectiveness of your lineup. We’ll also try to remind you of some matchups and situations to avoid to keep your lineup from producing goose eggs. And, hey, let’s be honest here. I’m not some sort of visionary who knows all and tells all. I learn my stuff the same way you do – by watching the game and reading work by the people who cover the game for a living. If you find a tidbit you want to share with use mere mortals, drop me line or two at Tim.M@RotoExperts.com. I love getting reader email – even if it’s to tell me how wrong I am. I promise to answer them all.

The table below will be published each week showing the expected pitching rotation matchups, whether the game is at home or on the road, and it will include the pitcher’s handedness (left-handers are designated with an “L”). Finally, you will note that each matchup is assigned a ranking numbered #1-5. This number refers to my recommendation as far as starting that pitcher in Fantasy play and the rankings break down as follows:

1 – Must-Start – These pitchers are aces and are virtually matchup proof.
