Brent Honeywell’s Screwball May Help You Win A Fantasy Baseball Championship

Joe Gallina Staff Writer April 12, 2017 6:10PM EST
We’re only in the middle of the second week of the 2017 Fantasy Baseball season; Jeanmar Gomez has already lost his closer job, and players like Jackie Bradley Jr. and Trea Turner have joined the growing ranks of players already on the disabled list. Jose Reyes has just two hits in 33 at bats, and Masahiro Tanaka has walked six batters in his seven and two-thirds innings pitched this season. It’s still way too early in the season to panic over early season poor play, but if enough weeks go by with players on your Fantasy roster slumping, eventually you are going to fall out of Fantasy Baseball championship contention.

Be prepared, because without warning you may need to bench or remove someone from your Fantasy Baseball lineup either due to their prolonged ineffectiveness, or maybe due to an unexpected injury, and you need to be ready for it. You need to scour big league box scores and monitor minor league statistics so that you’ll know which players are likely to be first in line to get called up to the bigs. I’ve identified some of these players for you. You’ll recognize some names, but I’ve included others that you might not be aware of. All statistics are accurate as of the morning of 4/12/2017.
