That 10-day DL option is really keeping us Fantasy players on our toes, isn’t it? Teams are taking advantage of the option to move a player to the abbreviated DL spot and call up a live body from the minor leagues, instead of sitting the injured player for a day or two. So far, it seems that this is the year of the DL, and some of these player injuries are just popping up out of nowhere. For example, Mariners starting pitcher James Paxton pitches into the sixth inning, striking out six and giving up just one run, and just a few days later he ends up on the 10-day DL. Who saw Mark Melancon’s injury coming? A mild right pronator strain? What the heck is a pronator? Do you have one? The fact remains that you need to be ready for whatever the Fantasy gods throw your way. Keep an eye out for emerging talent that could be in the big leagues before long. To help you do that, I’ve identified another five players who could soon be playing in the big leagues. All stats are current as of the morning of May 10th.
