A: Familia went to see Dr. Robert Thompson in St. Louis on Friday (the same surgeon that Matt Harvey saw for his Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) and underwent shoulder surgery to address an arterial clot. Familia blew a save on Wednesday, his third consecutive day on the mound, and the Mets sent him to have his arm checked out after his poor performance. That’s when the clot was found. The Mets’ have said that his recovery will take months, but they have not been very specific about what exactly that means. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is season-ending, as it has been for many players in the past who have undergone a similar surgery. August seems to be the earliest he would return to the mound.
Q: Why isn’t Josh Donaldson back yet?
