Familia underwent surgery on Friday to repair a blockage of the posterior circumflex humeral artery on his right side. He will be shut down for six weeks and then hopes to begin throwing again, but the overall projected recovery time is 3-4 months. I don’t see Familia returning before late August or September, and many players who have recently had the same surgery did not return at all during the season. The Mets’ pitching staff can’t catch a break, and this is another huge loss.
