As I indicated last week, the introduction of the 10-day DL has wreaked havoc on Fantasy Baseball rosters and made this column an important resource. Although most injuries are legitimate, it seems that the abbreviated disabled list has led to some phantom DL stints as well. After Kenta Maeda was placed on the 10-day DL right after pitching into the ninth inning the night before, many Fantasy Baseball analysts, myself included, felt as if the Dodgers were taking advantage of the new system. Were they using the 10-day DL to manage and limit the overall number of innings that their pitchers were throwing this season? Nevertheless, the fact remains that you need to be ready for whatever the Fantasy gods throw your way. Keep an eye out for emerging talent that could be in the big leagues before long. In order to help you do that, I’ve identified another five players who could soon be playing in the big leagues. All stats are current as of the morning of May 17th.
