With the month of June approaching, not only will it mark the first day of summer, but in Fantasy, it marks the point of a usable, reliable sample when evaluating hitters. June 1 is the date I use each year when people ask if it’s time to panic or if it’s time to see if a guy is for real. By June 1, you have eight weeks of data to use at nearly the one-third mark of the season.

Before we get into who is legit and who isn’t next week – including those who have come back from a poor showing in 2016 – let’s take time this week and breathe to have some fun with numbers.

1: It’s the number of home runs hit by eight qualified hitters – mainly of the light-hitting variety – but also by Justin Turner of the Dodgers. It’s also the number of homers hit by Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman this year.
