One can only imagine how next week’s Waiver Wire column is going to shape up in the wake of the trade deadline. For now, let’s focus on the present and unearth talent that can help your squads as the proverbial dog days of August will soon be upon us.
Josh Tomlin, P, Indians: On June 20, Tomlin was 4-9 with a 6.09 ERA. Since then, he’s gone 3-0 and has had a July in which his ERA sits at 3.96 with a 1.00 WHIP. Tomlin has allowed two runs or fewer in two of his last three starts while allowing just two homers after giving up 17 bleacher gifts in his first 16 starts. His ownership his climbed to 35 percent in CBSSports.com leagues due in part to Tomlin limiting hitters to a .213 batting average since the All-Star Break along with 11 strikeouts in 13.1 innings. He’s beginning to look like the pitcher he was in 2016 and should be picked up as a streaming option who could also hold down a spot in a Fantasy pitching staff the rest of the way.
