Case Keenum vs. Green Bay Packers: Case Keenum will likely be the Vikings quarterback for Week 6, as Sam Bradford aggravated his injured knee Monday night. Keenum has been a matchup-dependent play at QB so far. In the games against a plus defense, he has struggled but in favorable matchups, he has excelled. In fact, he has yet to throw an interception while playing for the Vikings. This game against the Packers’ secondary will be more than favorable for Keenum, even though they are middle of the pack in points allowed to the position. Given the inconsistency the Vikings’ running game will surely experience in this matchup, look for Keenum to utilize Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen on the outside and downfield to play point for point with the Packers. If you are in a bind at quarterback with bye weeks, Keenum is worth a shot as a low-end QB1 this week. Don’t be surprised to see him throwing for close to 300 yards with at least two touchdowns in this game. In DFS, he could be an overlooked option who gives you an edge in tournament play.
Elijah McGuire vs. New England Patriots: With it looking more and more likely that the Jets will be without both Matt Forte and Bilal Powell for this game, McGuire immediately steps into the RB2 discussion with his matchup against the Patriots. New England is currently ranked as the worst defense in Fantasy in points allowed to running backs. The Patriots’ defense has allowed the most receiving touchdowns to opposing backs this year, which is likely where McGuire excels in this game. He will likely have a decent game on the ground with around 80 yards rushing, but where his true values lie this week will be in the receiving department. I like him to catch at least five balls out of the backfield in this game, and along with a score, he vaults into the RB2 area. Worthy of the start in seasonal leagues, but in DFS, he could be the sneaky play to help you cash in Week 6.
Marvin Jones Jr. @ New Orleans Saints: Until Week 5, Marvin Jones had been very inconsistent this season, with no more than three catches in any game. However, in this week’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints’ defense, I expect Jones to have his best game yet in 2017. The Saints’ defense, even after a bye week, still ranks in the bottom third in points allowed to opposing receivers. The Lions’ passing attack will have to keep them in this ball game on the road. Most of the coverage will be focused on keeping Golden Tate in check underneath, which will lead to big plays downfield for Jones. I expect him to break loose for at least one long score. Add that to an expected six catches, and you have a WR2/WR3 type week for him. He’s worth the start in season-long leagues and in DFS, he will likely have low-ownership numbers this week. Take advantage of a low-cost player in a prime matchup.
Ryan Griffin vs. Cleveland Browns: An improving quarterback against a defense that gives up points in bunches to the tight end position, sounds like a matchup that is too good to be true. That is exactly what you have this week with Ryan Griffin taking on the Browns. Cleveland has given up the most catches to the position, along with the second-most touchdowns. With Deshaun Watson gaining confidence on a weekly basis, I can see Griffin having a very solid day here. If you are streaming at the position, grab Griffin and plug him in for the week. His five catches for 70 yards and a score will be well worth it. In DFS, he will undoubtedly be low-owned because of name value, so take advantage of that.
Nick Novak @ Oakland Raiders: I can see this game being a high-scoring contest between the Chargers and the Raiders, meaning plenty of scoring opportunities. Novak is worth it as a pickup and play type of kicker. In DFS, he will be one of the cheaper options on the board, making him a sneaky play.
San Francisco 49ers @ Washington Redskins: Call this a gut feeling, but I can see the 49ers defense showing up to play in Washington this week. The Redskins’ offensive line has been very inconsistent this year, with a nonexistent running game. Look for the 49ers to dial up some pressure, leading to a few sacks and possibly a couple of turnovers. This will strictly be a matchup play but in DFS, they are a very sneaky option for Week 6.
