Each Wednesday we’ll take a look at the hottest free-agent pickups from around the National Basketball Association to help you set your upcoming lineups. Some players might have short-term value, while others might be moving up to have some long-term appeal. We’ll sift through the names so you can make the best choice for your team.

Matt Barnes, SF, L.A. Clippers: Barnes flew under the radar during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, and this year has been a little bit of the same. However, he has hit double-digits in points in a season-high eight consecutive games. He has been instrumental in the lengthy winning streak by the Clips. He has also managed at least four rebounds in nine of his past 10 outings, and he is a 3-point threat as well. Barnes has raised up for 25 3-pointers over his past 16 outings.

Boris Diaw, PF/C, San Antonio: Diaw has been decent for Fantasy owners in deeper leagues lately, averaging 7.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 2.4 over his past five games. Unless injuries strike down on the Alamo, Diaw’s minutes ceiling is rather limited, but he can chip in to help in several different categories, so those in leagues with 12 or more teams will want to pay attention.
