Getting away from the usual salary cap format, there is another popular game that DraftStreet has – a pick ’em game where everyone that plays gets to choose a certain number of players from each tier available. Instead of considering price, you’re just comparing players against each other.
It’s definitely a fun way to test your knowledge of the players without having to think about prices at all. The interesting thing about Thursday’s games is that there are no dominant favorites and all three games could go either way. While that is interesting, that also makes playing Fantasy more difficult.
However, that’s why RotoExperts exists! Let’s go.
World Cup Pick ’em $1K GTD picks:
Tier 1: Daniel Sturridge, F, ENG
I assume everyone else is taking Luis Suarez right here because of his name, but that’s why I’m going with Sturridge. As we saw last game, Uruguay’s defense is suspect and Sturridge will get a ton of chances.
Tier 2: Keisuke Honda, F, JPN
I would go with Wayne Rooney here, but don’t want to be dependent on the England attack. Honda showed what he could do last game, albeit for a brief period. He’ll be involved in most of what Japan does up front.
Tier 3: Raheem Sterling, M, ENG
Sterling was awesome last game against a superior defense than he’ll face here. His speed is going to be a major problem for the backs of Uruguay.
Tier 4: Juan Cuadrado, M, COL
I had Georgios Samaras here, but decided to roll with the Colombian instead. Cuadrado had two assists last game and could be in line for more here, as Ivory Coast’s weakest area is on defense.
Tier 5: Victor Ibarbo, F, COL
While it didn’t show in the stats last game, Ibarbo was a complete beast against Greece. It definitely wouldn’t be surprising if he scored against Ivory Coast, and he’s a much better play than anyone else in this tier.
Tier 6: Eiji Kawashima, G, JPN
Kawashima is going up against one of the worst attacking teams in the World Cup. Even though Japan’s defense is suspect, I’ll still go with him.
Tier 7: Pablo Armero, D, COL
Here’s another Colombian in Armero. He loves to attack as seen in his goal last game.
Tier 8: Gary Cahill, D, ENG
As defenders aren’t awarded for clean sheets in this game, this tier is basically a toss-up between center backs. I figure I’ll go with Cahill, who has a decent history of scoring goals at the club level.
