If you've been watching March Madness (and really, who wouldn't be), you have surely seen the show that Oklahoma big man Blake Griffin has put on. Imagine the energy in the Oklahoma City Thunder front office as this story has unraveled. Sure, it's no lock that they'll draw the lucky lottery ball that will give them the keys to the Griffin wagon, but their odds are good and it's a match made in heaven. I'll be closely following this story in the offseason. If the Thunder do manage to snag the kid, they will be a scary team in the making. Think about a starting lineup of Russell Westbrook (PG, OKC), Kevin Durant (SG/SF, OKC), Jeff Green (SF/PF, OKC), Griffin, and pretty much anyone else, and it's at least enough to make you raise an eyebrow, no? Who'll that fifth guy be? Well my friend, I'm glad you asked.
In an effort to keep this column relevant to both those of you who are still in the running and those of you who are [stick a fork in me] done, I will focus on players who are getting tryouts for more significant roles in their team rotations next year. Most of these guys will be very early in their career obviously, and anything they do today may or may not matter in the end, depending on the offseason. Still, it is a worthy exercise to get these guys squarely on your radar now, particularly if you are in a keeper league. |

The season is winding down and the playoffs are upon us, so it's time to make sure you've got the right combination of permanent contributors and guys to rotate in and out of your roster. I've hit on ongoing values and streaming the past two weeks, and today I will highlight a list of guys who simply need to be considered in your quest for a championship. Let's get right to the player commentary.

I've spent the past three weeks looking at guys who will have inflated value for the foreseeable future. First, it was the analysis of the trade deadlines activities, and then it was looking at guys who are stepping up. Lastly, it was a look at players who are finally coming around.
If you've been following my advice, your roster should be shored up with some nice talent. That should keep your momentum heading northward into the playoffs. Sometimes, though, you have to resort to more drastic measures.
Perhaps the scheduling gods left you with a terrible schedule for the first round of the playoffs, placing you at a significant disadvantage in a daily lineup in a H2H league. Maybe your opponent is playing the streaming game, and rotating guys in-and-out of the lineup looking to steal away all of the counting categories. Look hard at your roster in these situations, and see if there is dead weight you can cast away to jump in the game.
Sometimes, you've got to stream a little, sometimes a lot. But the name of the game is winning, so you do what you gotta do, right?

FANTASY BASKETBALL: MeThinks, Finally Coming Around |

Last week I focused on players "on the upswing". This time, I'll focus on guys who've been around at least a year or two, sometimes longer, who are finally coming around. I also touch on a couple of rookies who've been inconsistent over the course of the season but still look to have some value.
Of course I'll mix in a few guys who are worth your time based on opportunity. It only makes sense to look at guys who have either been relevant at the professional level in the past or who came into the league with high expectations and haven't delivered...until now.
Without further ado, let's get to what MeThinks... |
