2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Shortstop Print
Written by RotoExperts Team

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Shortstop
Values Generated by Diamond Draft Fantasy Baseball Software
Based on Projections for 5 X 5 Mixed Leagues as of February 15, 2009

The top three remain the same, but with another subpar year, Jimmy Rollins (SS, PHI) may slide down the rankings. An interesting option in 2009 is Rafael Furcal (SS, LAD). If healthy he could easily challenge the elite players, but back injuries are a huge concern. Shortstop is where position scarcity really kicks in, with many of the options that we are forced to roster actually producing negative value. You might be able to find a few steals lower in the rankings, but otherwise the cupboard is bare.

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Designated Hitter Print

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Designated Hitter
Values Generated by Diamond Draft Fantasy Baseball Software
Based on Projections for 5 X 5 Mixed Leagues as of February 15, 2009

Below is the list of players whose only eligibility is at the designated hitter position. As you can see the days of the fulltime DH seem to be a thing of the past. DHs can certainly provide value for your fantasy team, but be careful. Their lack of flexibility can cause some roster headaches down the road. Really, only the top four are worth considering for your mixed league roster. A lot of people were predicting a rebound from Travis Hafner (DH, CLE) in 2008. A lot of people got 'Pronked.' Care to take a similar gamble in 2009?

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Outfield Print
Written by RotoExperts Team

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Outfield
Values Generated by Diamond Draft Fantasy Baseball Software
Based on Projections for 5 X 5 Mixed Leagues as of February 15, 2009

Outfield seems to be a position of great depth, but by the end of a standard 12-team mixed draft, you're still forced to roster players with questionable outlooks. There are a handful of power/speed combos that provide your fantasy squad with a solid foundation and allow you to draft the best player later in the draft, without feeling the need to reach for certain categories. Sleepers abound here, with two of the most popular being Nelson Cruz (OF, TEX) and Shin-Soo Choo (OF, CLE). Are you a believer?

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Pitchers Print
Written by RotoExperts Team

2009 Diamond Draft Rankings and Dollar Values: Pitchers
Values Generated by Diamond Draft Fantasy Baseball Software
Based on Projections for 5 X 5 Mixed Leagues as of February 15, 2009

Johan Santana's (SP, NYM) consistency and reliability once again have him sitting atop the fantasy rankings for pitchers. This year, though, he's got company in the form of young flamethrower, Tim Lincecum (SP, SF). Rostering one of these aces is never a bad thing, but a lesson we hope you learned in 2008, is that when pitching gets better and deeper in real life, it actually loses value in fantasy. With the depth that we now have at starting pitcher, you'll be able to hoard offense early, and still build a solid pitching staff in the mid to late portions of your draft.
