As the founder of RotoExperts.com I am always looking for ways we can give back to our community, and a recent conversation with some friends made me think about the many service men and women in harms way who play fantasy sports. One related to me a story about a young man who had a key player in his lineup who was injured for a big game in his league and he had no way to access his team to make the needed changes.
We take so many of the little things for granted, and yet those who risk the most for us often have no time for these seemingly mundane tasks. We know these games are important to them; they provide a sense of connection with the rest of the world, with their families and friends and comrades back in the states.
It struck me that we could help if only in this small way, and provide them the skill and expertise of our staff to keep them competitive and let them know that we are thinking of them. With the fantasy football playoffs right around the corner, and the holidays that we will enjoy in our warm homes, surrounded by our loved ones, it is a trivial thing for us compared to what they do for us each and every day..
So I spoke with my partners, and they agreed to a man that we would do whatever we could to help them. Our team, which includes 2006 Fantasy Sportswriter of the Year Scott Engel, will offer to log in and set lineups for any member of the military who doesn't have the access to do it themselves.
All they need to do is send an email to

with their log in and password. We will treat this information with the strictest of confidence. We will log in and make lineup adjustments and waiver wire adds and drops according to their instructions so they won't be stuck with injured or demoted players in their active lineups.
I currently have two boys in the service. My son Matthew recently graduated from Defense Language Institute, and my stepson Jason is serving with the army in South Korea. We lost another boy, my stepson Jonathan, in Iraq last July 1st, and though saddened by that loss are proud for his service and sacrifice to his country.
It is such a small thing we can offer those who are protecting our way of life.
For those of you who would like to help out our troops but may not know what you can do, Operation From The Heart is a great place to start.
Smitty is a good friend who has done amazing things getting care packages out to the troops. He has a full list of things that are always in demand, and can even send a care package directly to a soldier or group if you like.
It's perfect for school classes that would like to adopt a platoon as an example. Get a list of items, have the kids write letters and gather things like food and snacks, magazines, toiletries and more (for a list check out this link - http://www.opfth.org/assets/images/autogen/Care_Packages) and send them to
Smitty at:

As we enter the last few weeks when many of our military are over seas and away from their families, this is a great way to say thanks to them for all they do for us.
God Bless Our Troops
