Tom Lorenzo updates his mock draft picks now that the list is final.

So we’re less than a week away from the NBA Draft, and we have our official list of players IN the draft.  This is an exciting time for the NBA.  The Celtics just won the NBA Finals and we already get to dive right into the Draft.  Tommy Landry and I gave you our mocks over a week ago, and we figured it was time to update our draft boards.  After all, we did reserve the right to do so!

Please feel free to join in on the conversation.  What’s right?  What’s wrong?  Let me know!

Pick
Team
Needs
Selection
Position

1
Chicago Bulls
PG, SG
Derrick Rose, Memphis
PG
I still think that Rose is the pick here.  Either way -- Rose or Beasley -- the Bulls add a big talent.  But, the fans want Rose.
2
Miami Heat
PG, C
O.J. Mayo, USC
SG
Wade and Mayo will make a dynamic duo.  Beasley is also a need, but Reily still seems to want Mayo.
3
Minnesota Timberwolves
PG, PF
Michael Beasley, K-State
PF
He would be perfect matched with Al Jefferson.  The two make a great lowpost combo.  They'll probably move the pick if they can't get Beasley.
4
Seattle Supersonics
PG, SG, C
Jerryd Bayless, Arizona
PG
He's a great combo guard who would look good running up and down the court with Durant  Still think they go Bayless.
5
Memphis Grizzlies
PF, C
Kevin Love, UCLA
PF
He's fundamentally sound.  He also seems to be in great shape and climbing up draft boards.
6
New York Knicks
PG, SF, PF
Joe Alexander, West Virginia
SF
He seems to fit the mold of what Donnie Walsh looks for in a player and fits perfectly into D'Antoni's system.
7
Los Angeles Clippers
PG, SG
Russell Westbrook, UCLA
PG
There are still question marks around the return of Shaun Livingston.  Westbrook is heavily coveted.
8
Milwaukee Bucks
SF, PG
Danilo Gallinari, Italy
SF
They have a need at SF.  Gallinari fits the need and can turn into a scoring machine.
9
Charlotte Bobcats
C
Brook Lopez, Stanford
C
This Stanford Sophomore is a fantastic low-post scorer.  Great compliment to defensive stud Okafor.
10
New Jersey Nets
PF, C
Anthony Randolph, LSU
PF
He's another athletic big to build around.  No more lumbering bigs for this post Jason Collins team.
11
Indiana Pacers
PG, SG, C
Eric Gordon, Indiana
SG
The Pacers would love to see him fall to them at 11.  I think if he fell out of the top 8 some one will move up to get him.  If not, the Pacers will pull the trigger.
12
Sacramento Kings
PG, PF
D.J. Augustine, Texas
PG
Augustine and Kevin Martin would be a fun duo to watch.  Read Hibbert as an option - Kings fans better hope not!
13
Portland Trailblazers
SF
Donte Greene, Syracuse
SF
He's a face to the basket scorer.  Excellent compliment to Aldridge and Oden.
14
Golden State Warriors
PG, SF, C
Brandon Rush, Kansas
SG/SF
They have to be concerned that Ellis is not in their future plans.  They would love to draft a PG, move Baron and re-sign Ellis, though.
15
Phoenix Suns
SG, SF, C
Kostas Kofus, Ohio State
C
Read a lot about his great workouts.  The Suns would love his size and need someone to back-up Shaq as he gets older.
16
Philadelphia 76ers
PF, C
Marresse Speights, Florida
PF
Back to the basket scorer.  He's the lowpost guy they're looking for.
17
Toronto Raptors
SG, SF
Alexis Ajinca, France
C
He is flying up the Draft boards.  Colangelo loves International Bigs and should role the dice on Ajinca.
18
Washington Wizards
PG, PF
Robin Lopez, Stanford
C
Here we have the "defensive" Lopez brother.  He gives the Wizards a good interior presence and energy off the bench.
19
Cleveland Cavaliers
PG, SG
Darrell Arthur, Kansas
PF
Arthur can be a great scoring option down low.  He compliments both LeBron and Big Z.
20
Denver Nuggets
PG, C
Mario Chalmers, Kansas
PG
Might be a little high here, but the PG position is a big need for the Nuggets and Chalmers has shown he can run an offense.
21
New Jersey Nets (from DAL)
PF, C
DeAndre Jordan, Texas A&M
C
Again, no more lumbering Bigs for the Nets.  They'll take a shot on an athletic Big like Jordan.
22
Orlando Magic
SG, PF
Chris Douglas-Roberts, Memphis
SG/SF
CD-R is a good shooter and he fills a need at the SG position for the Magic.
23
Utah Jazz
SG, C
Roy Hibbert, Georgetown
C
Hibbert seems like the best fit here.  This is a halfcourt team and he is a halfcourt player - only!
24
Seattle Supersonics (from PHO)
PG, SG, C
JaVale McGee, Nevada
C
I know the Sonics have rolled the dice on upside Bigs (Swift, Sene, Petro), but it is a need if they get their PG at #5.
25
Houston Rockets
PG, C
Serge Ibaka, Congo
PG
Again, they have a PG need, but Ibaka has upside and can be stashed away for a year or two.
26
San Antonio Spurs
SF, C
Nicolas Batum, France
SF
He is a great talent and would offer the Spurs another shooter off the bench with Horry and Finley aging.
27
New Orleans Hornets
SG, SF
Courtney Lee, Western Kentucky
SG
Lee is another riser on most draft boards.  NOH would love to get Lee, a shooter.
28
Memphis Grizzlies (from LAL)
PF, C
J.J. Hickson, NC State
PF
This Grizzlies team is desperate for bigs.  Hickson is a perfect fit - a skilled Big.
29
Detroit Pistons
PF, C
Jason Thompson, Rider
PF
Heard that D.J. White and Bill Walker were options here, but Walker got hurt and I think White doesn’t have the same upside as Thompson.
30
Boston Celtics
SG, C
Bill Walker, Kansas State
SG/SF
They'll probably draft an International Big, but they also have a need at SG.  Walker has lottery talent.

I don’t know about all of you, but I am excited about the Draft!  It’s the perfect opportunity for Lottery teams to instill hope into fans and sell season tickets.  I love this game!

Tom would consider throwing his name into the hat to get drafted in this year’s NBA Draft, but someone once told him he has a no heart, no hops, and sweats too much for anyone’s liking.  So, essentially, he was called Zach Randolph.  Give him your thoughts at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
