Jesse Todd, 22 (RHP), Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals, AA)

Jesse is a 2007 2nd round pick out of the University of Arkansas.  Not many people are talking about Mr. Todd yet, aside from the ones who believe he’ll end up in the bullpen.  This may be because he was just a 2nd round pick or simply because he is only 5' 11".  The Cardinals have tried him out of the bullpen during both his first year and the beginning of this year.  So far his only success has been as a starter.  To me, a pitcher’s height is not important as long as he can get guys out.   The Cardinals have Chris Perez to fill their closer need...so they have promoted Mr. Todd to Double-A in his first full season. Since arriving there he has only been a starting pitcher which is where his fantasy value will be.  I believe he will have a lot of success with his fastball-slider combo and if he gets his changeup worked out...LOOK OUT!  The Cardinals need good starters so he will get the chance to stay a starter and with his BB to SO rate he will be able to help fantasy teams early in his career.
