There's only one sporting event tonight. It's a standalone game and it's for the chip. And it's the Emirates NBA Cup championship game from Vegas. One game to win it all, the New York Knickerbockers against the San Antonio Spurs. And oh, what's this? The Knicks are favored. You're damn right they're favored because I told you a month ago who the champions would be this year. It is the New York Knickerbockers standalone game, must-see. TV like an NBA Finals Game 7. All the marvels up for grabs tonight. I will watch every bounce of every ball tonight as we celebrate our first ever Emirates Cup in New York City. Oh, I'm so pumped up. Now what are we doing here? Don't be bitter. The Sixers aren't in it, so sorry. I'm not bitter about it. Maybe Paul George and the big fella will play at some point later this year. They just played. They just played on Saturday. Um, they, they, they're. Their next game will be the Knicks on Friday. Bet the house on the Sixers. I tried December 19th at Madison Square Garden. Bet the house on the Sixers to cover the spread because the Knicks are gonna be riding high or low after this. But I hear you. But just real quick on that thought, when the Knicks beat the Spurs and win, Tyrone is setting you up for the obvious letdown game, even though it's a division opponent. The letdown, the partying in Vegas. Don't forget, every dude on the roster, if you win the cup. You get about half a million dollars. Even the 10-day contract, guys, as they call them the two-day, the two-way contracts, they get a $250,000. Uh, the losers, in this case, the Spurs, they each get just over $2,000,000. So it's a legitimate payday. It's either life-changing money for some and a super amount of play money for the ones that are rich like Brunson that now that's just a windfall of play money. You're Carl Anthony Townsend, we win the strip club and or a towel better be on you. Like your money, ain't nobody else's money is good, right? But those two-way guys, that's now a house. That's now like that's life-changing situation. If you're a two-way guy, you don't make, you maybe make $100,000 which is obviously a great living. I'm not pooh-poohing that, you know, but you're back and forth, a lot of travel, a lot of bad hotels, and you're this close, and yeah, you might make $100,000 throughout the course of the year. This doubles that like Tyrone's saying, this is real money. It's almost a quarter of a million dollars. For those guys, for the regular guys, it's still a half a million bucks, which, by the way, 34 car payments, a mortgage, yo, the girl on the side who you gotta keep happy, the kids, whatever it is, like you become Santa Claus. No, and I look, they've already got a lot of money. They're already Santa Claus, but the extra 5 million, man, gift, I'd buy you whatever you want. Now I gotta ask you, I just want a trager smoker with the electrical. Setting so I can just leave it. I ain't gotta get up at 3 in the morning and smoke it. I want the thing where I can just set the temperature at 300 or 220, whatever it is, and smoke my ribs and my short ribs and my brisket without having to wake up. That's a great thing. Now your enthusiasm is contagious, so now I'm gonna ask you, are you gonna reverse? You wanna come over tonight and watch you're having a party. So sure, 8:30, uh, uh, now, um, I gotta ask you about all this enthusiasm. I think you gotta change your mind once they win. Go ahead right there on Friday. You raise the batter at the garden, right? You put the batter up, right? All right, so this, this, this is a big topic of conversation amongst Knicks fans. That's a, that's a fugazy, and it's a fugazy, fugazy rendering of what you might see there the division champ. Look at Walt Frazier and Dickie Barnett and Earl the Pearl. Look at the jerseys. So there is some debating right now. And I should have, I meant to call Adam Silver and ask him. I didn't. I will today if it's mandated. I believe it is, to be honest, because by the league that the winning team raises a banner. I've been told the answer is no, but I did not ask Adam Silver, to be fair. I was pressured but not mandatory because the Lakers said no, they weren't gonna do it. Then they did a couple of years back. The Bucks, the Milwaukee Bucks didn't do it at all that for when they won it. Now maybe they've done it since fact check me on that. It's up now because they didn't do it at first. They did, they did a different type of celebration for the fans, uh, so if they did it after the fact, again, I'm happy to be. Right now in that building, it's there. I don't know if they did a ceremony, but it's there now. So here's what's weird. The New York Knicks haven't been able to raise a championship banner since 1973. And while I love the in-season tournament for moments like this, uh, a meaningful game where everyone's gonna bust their ass to try to win it, and it's playoff-style basketball, and you know, for a fact the teams are into it. You saw that Spurs game in the semifinals. You saw the Knick Magic game. That was high-level basketball, and that's all we want. We want the best players in the world playing high-level basketball. We're gonna get that tonight. Like, honestly, all jokes aside, it's a coin toss to me. Spurs are playing great. I think Wemy's coming off the bench again. They're trying to monitor his minutes and all that jazz. The Spurs might very well be the only team out West that can give the Thunder a run for their money in a seven-game series, and they did beat them. It was a great game in the semis to get in. But if the Knicks win, I want to be clear about this. I don't want to raise the banner. And here's why I don't want to raise the banner. Because for the only team in my life that I am sensitive about negative commentary towards, because as you know, of all the teams I love, I love the Knicks more than any other team that I love and have since birth, OK? I don't wanna hear it. I don't wanna hear the mocking because we would be mocked, rightfully so.
