Monday night football, massive game in the AFC and the NFC standings here. The Philadelphia travel to Los Angeles today to to take on Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, Chargers at home. We'll see if the Eagles have more fans actually on a coast to coast travel day than the Chargers have. But how about this job? 3 1/2 that we saw the opening line at, now we're seeing it down to 1.5 and 2's in the marketplace. 41.5 listed as the total tonight. Justin Herbert, broken hand, non-throwing hand. Jalen Hurts looking to get that offense on track this one. No Jaylen Carter for the Philadelphia Eagles. How does this one play out? What's your spread line tonight, Joe? Well, it's interesting, Danny, right, because we're, we're still seeing tickets and money on Philadelphia, and yet the line keeps moving towards the Chargers. So it, it's clear that there is certainly the bigger, more influential bets are not, uh, they're out on Philadelphia in this spot, traveling across the country to take on the Chargers, and really it comes down to here we are in week 14, Donnie. uh, are you what we see, can we believe our eyes with this offense? Or not, uh, keep an eye on the Chargers and who's going to be available to them in the backfield. Is Hampton going to go here? We know they have issues on the offensive line. The total is fascinating to me. This looks a lot like the same total we just had last night, Donnie, with Kansas City and Houston. Two teams probably much better defensively than offensively. Could this be another one of these 2013 games? The market seems to think so. Ah. Ah boy, we're just getting started on armchair quarterback Monday college football playoff absolutely hot topics continue, and we'll get to those in just a few moments as well. But let's get some hardcore action right now on the football field. It's on the right side, so here, Tom Vecchio, Tommy, Monday, so much happened over the weekend, man. We got a lot to get to today. We got a lot to get to today. We got more injuries, playoff spots being taken away over the weekend. I will say tonight's game is really interesting from a number of different perspectives. The total is interesting. The injuries that we're having with players coming back, there's a ton to discuss. No, there is a lot to discuss. And yesterday, Tom, just take a look at some of those football games, the way they played out yesterday. I enjoyed myself, had a pretty good day, but I do want to talk to you about that Texans Chiefs game. I thought that game we played to an under, it did. I thought the Texans win, they did. And you saw 3 offensive linemen Tom down before the game started. One play into it, they're down another tackle. There was no way that the Chiefs should have been able to compete yesterday. They actually did. They made some interesting decisions on 4 downs, but talk to me, Tommy, Chiefs, 6 and 7, is it a wrap? Uh, you know, my biggest takeaway from that game is that the Texans' offense is not good enough. And, and their defense is awesome. And, you know, we got to halftime. I was doing the game last night with Brady. You know, we got to halftime, and I was like, OK, it's 100. This game should have been 20-0 based on just the way it felt. And then the Chiefs come back into it, and the Texans have chances to put the game away and go. By 3 possessions and like really put the nail in the coffin, but they didn't. And credit to the Chiefs' defense because they did their part, the Chiefs' offense didn't do their part. But also there's like, there's no it factor for the Texans on offense at least where it's like, why are you not putting teams away? Why are you letting teams hang around when you have a top 2 defense in the league? These, these games should be done and dusted by halftime, but they're not. It it was a 10-10 game heading into the fourth quarter at Arrowhead. Kansas City's got no excuse. Injuries are no excuse. You had exactly what you wanted in that spot there, and then you didn't execute down the line. Ray Rice drops a 1st down pass, which makes absolute wide open. So you got nobody to blame but yourself here. But moving forward, congratulations, Texans, you win your 5th straight. Uh, to your point, what, what's the ceiling for this team, uh, the, the ceiling is, is what we saw last year when, uh, the Chargers go into Houston and Herbert threw 4 picks, if I remember correctly, and it's like, well, they're gonna win the game. The Texans are gonna win the game and Stroud's gonna throw for 210 yards and maybe a touchdown, 1 running touchdown, they have a defensive touchdown. All of a sudden they win the game 24 to 14, and it's like, well, they won the game, they covered, but how good did they look? Yeah, it's look, it's gonna be an interesting one to play out at this point. You love the defense that the Houston Texans bring to the table, but also take a look at, you know, it's amazing the Chiefs are not going to make the playoffs. Like as long as you have Andy Reid and Patrick Holmes, it shouldn't matter who else you had. They just can't win one score games. And also, you do see the panic start to set in 4th and 1 on your own 30 yard line. You don't even hand off to Kareem Ho's an automatic 1st down like 3rd in 1s and 4th and 1s or less. You pass it, you lose the football game right on that spot. Tonight, Tom. We got a good one though and a lot of questions as you said. The Eagles are favorites here, slipping here, 1.5, 2.15 depending where you're shopping at, total, very low, from 42.5 to opening numbers. We saw 40.5s out there now back up to 41.5. Herbert's got the broken hand, but it's his non-throwing hand. The Eagles struggling a bit on offense. The one thing that we do like though, you don't have to worry about any weather conditions. It's in a dome. Does that play up to the offense or what are the expectations, Tom, for you tonight in this Monday Night Foot. game. You know, when Brady and I were, you know, briefly discussing this game last night, you know, I said if this total was 45 or 44.5, I would love the under. I would absolutely love the under in that spot. 41's a tough, it's a tough number, knowing that you can have like a modest offensive game and, and still lose your bet. There's so many different things pulling in, in different directions. First off, with Herbert coming back, as you said, coming back, but he had surgery last week on his non-throwing hand. I don't know if Dropping him back 35 or 40 times is a a plan to win considering that the Chargers have had plenty of offensive line issues literally since training camp this season. So we know that Ama and Hampton, their rookie running back, is coming back. So this leads me immediately to looking at Herbert under 32.5 pass attempts as one of my favorite props. We see the Chargers with a 58 pass play percentage on the season. That has dropped to 50% over the last 3 weeks. That is bottom eight in the league. With Hampton coming back and Herbert dealing with this hand injury, him being exposed to more hits is not the game plan. Weidel was a viable running back when Hampton was out. Now you have him, you have, uh, Hampton back. I don't think they're both gonna run for 100 yards as we saw last week with the Bears, Joe, when we did that game, but at least you have competency in the backfield, plus Herbert throwing the ball 25 times. Just don't expose him to extra hits. He gets hurt one more time. The season's actually done. This feels, doesn't it, Tom, like a hardball kind of game. He is going to take the air out of the ball. He is going to move. We just watched the Bears do it. And really at week 14 here, Tom, is there anybody redeeming on Philadelphia's offense, even the back in the prop betting market or in this game? To me it would be AJ Brown. That's the only player that I like this week. We could talk about the off-field things, we could talk about the, the locker room, the quotes, this, the that. You know, realistically, he's had 300+ yard games over his last 5. So I like him over 160 5 receiving yards. Um, I, I, he's too good of a player for Them not to get the ball to. And we gotta remember, like, the Eagles of where they've been slipping, this is not like they have the first seed or the division locked up at this point. I know the Cowboys lost, but it's actually not over for the Cowboys. So this has to still be a very, very rational and smart, straightforward game from the Eagles. Also, Tom, play this angle for me because we watched so many times like yesterday in Buffalo. You knew it was gonna be up to Josh Allen in the snow. If I have to move the football with my legs, I'm going to do it. Let me ask you this question on Jalen Hurts. He hasn't run as much this season as we've seen in the past because the Philadelphia Eagles don't really run much read option anymore. Now that you're talking about a team that's looking to make it into the playoffs when your division, I see Jalen Hurts at 29.5. Nick Ciriani more influenced here this week as they're saying in practice and also in the meeting rooms of what the offense is going to look like. Talking about Jalen Hurtz's angle tonight, at least with his legs at 29.5. I don't mind it, but frankly, seeing 2 23 5 passing plus rushing, that I really do like, where he should be able to move the ball effectively in the air, at least somewhat. But you know, you give me 30-ish yards on the ground, which would be like a, a super, obviously sweaty, just rushing, but you add in the, the potential for him to even throwing for 225 plus just in the air, like isn't a game that we're gonna write home about, but it still gets you over that number. So I would prefer the passing plus rushing 223 seems like a very, very doable line for him. Tom, well, we love talking about here. I'll hear you this quickly. The touchdown scores tonight. Every single player, at least on fan, is plus money tonight with a total of around 41. Any thoughts early because you know where I go on the double up with the Eagles. Where are you going tonight? Any thoughts? I, I, I would say Ladd McConkie plus Johnston or or something like that. Lad plus Gadsden receiving options from the Chargers. I'm telling you, pick 2 for the Eagles, 2 for the Chargers. You got a payday. That's Tom Becchio. He's used to getting paydays here. Donny right side, Joe and Eri. Oh, the Nickelodeon feed? Yeah, no, no, I won't be doing that. Although it, it, that might be more exciting than this game, Donnie, because something tells me if you're hoping for offense, uh, this is not the game, uh, that you are gonna be excited to watch here because this feels very much like the game that we just watched last night where 1st 1 to 17 or 20 is going to win this game, Donny. Yeah, 28 and 4 football teams gonna get it underway tonight. And by the way, just looking at the standings here, the Chargers sit at 8 and 4 in the 6th spot right now. They dropped to 8 and 5. Now you bring in the Texans who won last night, and also the Colts who are struggling here and it starts to say, all right, now you're in a fight. A win by either one of these teams would be massive, particularly for the Philadelphia Eagles, just to hold off the Cowboys. I believe the Eagles win tonight that really shuts the door on the Dallas Cowboys. If they lose, sort of creeps that door open just a little. Oh, there we go, yeah, it does creep it up just a hair there, uh, Donnie, you're right about that. But listen, Dallas, uh, they're our own worst enemy. They created their own issues. Uh, but Philadelphia, to their credit, is bad and as inconsistent as they have looked. They Certainly have an opportunity here to be able to say, OK, Dallas, you left the door open. Now we're about to slam it shut because we're going to beat the Chargers on the road, which by the way, I'm continuing to look here and we have got nothing but. Philadelphia money and tickets in the marketplace, and yet this line continues to move towards the Chargers. I mean right now you could have gotten it what, 2.5, now down to 1.5. The money line is also getting a ton of money right now. So yes, uh, while Philadelphia really controls its own destiny, this is not a great matchup for them given the current state of this. And we had just mentioned, you know, no Lane Johnson. Both of these teams are missing two of the most valuable starting tackles in the NFL. Joe Alt out for the Chargers. They've had to deal with that all year long, and Lane Johnson for the Eagles, and he is not walking through that door anytime soon, and we have seen what this, how much Lane Johnson means to the offense of the Eagles is crazy, absolutely. Crazy. Just ask Saquan Barkley how much, uh, and how valuable is. Ask Jalen Hurts. The numbers, I mean, they drop almost a full yard per play worse when Lane Johnson is not on the field. They can't run, they're having trouble in the passing game. Everything looks disjointed. Now on the other side, you don't have Jaylen Carter, who is one of the better run stoppers in the NFL, one of the top 5 run stoppers in. NFL and now he's not going to be here because we told you earlier last week that somehow he had surgery on both shoulders and he's going to miss at least a month. So now they're coming off a game in which the Chicago Bears ran it right down their throat. They're taking on a Chargers team with a head coach in Jim Harbaugh that knows what the blueprint is now for the Eagles, who are going to miss their best run stopper. The, uh, you know, it doesn't shock me that the money is coming in on the Chargers and has been all week. The public looks at this Philadelphia team and still sees a world champion. Uh, but the influential batters are looking at this team and going, it's week 14. The idea that they are just going to flip a switch right now and everything is going to be well with this offense, it's not gonna happen. They're talented on paper, but they are about as disjointed a team right now with this much talent that we have seen in a long time. Now they got to go cross country, play on a Monday night. Harbaugh has dominated. Monday Night Football here, not to mention the Chargers in a very good spot even though Herbert had that surgery on his non-throwing hand there, I don't think it's going to be a problem one way or the other. He has always said he's going to be available here. We knew he was going to be available here. Heck, he broke that hand and was still available in that Raider game, came back in. So you weren't keeping Herbert. The big question I have is now if Hampton is back, Vidal is almost untack. I, I mean, you can't tackle the guy. There's missed tackles all over the place with this guy in the backfield with Kaani Vidal. This all of a sudden now, one of the weak parts might be one of the best parts for the Chargers here with this running game. So there's a lot to like about the Chargers. There's still far too many questions with Phil. Philadelphia and Dallas is sitting at home to Donnie's Point. They're going, all right, Chargers, let's go. Keep that window of opportunity open for us. It's up to Philadelphia to slam it shut. We'll see if they can do that. We'll have much more on this game as another hour of the early line straight ahead here on the grid. Now is the time of the show. We like to reach out and see what the public's digging on, Joe. Over under Eagles or Chargers leading the pack right now, the Eagles at -1.5, which by the way, did catch a little steam this morning while we were on the show, Joe, I'm seeing 2.2s across the sports landscape right now. Where are you going? Yeah, I mean, I listen, I, we had mentioned it, Donnie. The public very much, uh, believes Philadelphia is the better team here, which is why we're starting to see it. It'll be it's never gonna get the 3, but I think I would only look at the home dog and This spot just simply because this is the kind of game with this low total that Jim Harbaugh coached teams have dominated in his career in the NFL and it's tough, you know, the advantage on the sideline is big in this one, Cyani versus Harbaugh. Give me the birds tonight, of course, I'm gonna go with the my Philadelphia Eagles. All right, let's get to some action today, Joe. We gotta give the people what they want on a Monday, start the week out in style. Here's bye bye bye. Bye it people. Where are we going tonight, Joe? The world is yours, Monday Night Football on the ice, on the hard court. Where are we going? Well, listen, all the trends and all the numbers here for this Monday night football game certainly look like the Chargers have an edge, except for one, Donnie, in which I think is the best way to approach this game. We mentioned it earlier, Lane Johnson is everything to this offense of Philadelphia and the numbers speak volumes. However, even when he hasn't been in, you know where they've been very. when they've had to travel out west, Donnie. They've been great in the first half. Philadelphia has actually covered and won the first half in their last 5 trips heading out west. We've seen them do it this year. We've seen them in the first half look really good, and then the wheels fall off. So I'll take the Eagles in the first half to have the lead at the break.
