10. Erling Haaland - Manchester City
Injuries slowed Erling Haaland in the 2024-2025 campaign, and he “struggled” this season after winning the Golden Boot in 2023-2024. Of course, struggling is relative for a man with Haaland’s talents, and the Manchester City striker still netted 31 goals in all competitions. Manchester City will be under some pressure next season after sputtering this season, and you can bet Pep Guardiola will make many changes to his team before the season kicks off. However, Haaland is still one of the most gifted players in the Premier League.

Speaking of not slowing down despite advancing in age, Mohamed Salah is the best player in the league right now and has an argument to be the best offensive force in the world at the moment. The best defender in the Premier League remains Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk. Yet again, no player in the league contributed to more clean sheets than van Dijk (nine). He combined with Ibrahima Konate to form an outstanding partnership in front of Alisson Becker that propelled Arne Slot’s Liverpool side to the league title. Virgil van Dijk is aging, but he shows little sign of slowing down or decreasing in quality.

Manchester City’s struggles can likely be linked to one event in September of 2024. Midfield engine Rodri suffered a cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for the whole season, and the Citizens missed him in the worst way. His absence exposed Kevin de Bruyne (also injured for stretches), and Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic, and Nico Gonzalez could not make up for Rodri. He’s one of the best in the world, regardless of position, and Pep Guardiola will be thrilled to have him back in 2025-2026.
4. Declan Rice - Arsenal FC
The best player for second-place Arsenal was probably central midfielder Declan Rice. Rice is the standout of the trio that includes Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey and his free kicks against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinal were the main reason the Gunners advanced to the club’s first semifinal appearance since 2009. Rice is outstanding as a defensive presence and he’s improved as a creative force and goal-scoring threat each and every season.
5. Alisson Becker - Liverpool
The best shot-stopper and goalkeeper in the world appears to be Alisson Becker. The keeper is incredibly consistent, and he brings confidence to the side every time he is between the posts. Becker was deputized excellently by backup Caoimhin Kelleher when needed, but there can be no denying that he is in a class of his own at the position in the Premier League right now.
6. Bukayo Saka - Arsenal FC
The face of Arsenal FC is undoubtedly Bukayo Saka. The English international has been hailed as the team’s most important player, and they suffered in his three-month absence this season. Saka excels on the wing and should be even better if the Gunners can reel in a top striker in the summer transfer window. He’s quick, shifty, and industrious, and showed his creative side while Martin Odegaard was sidelined.
7. Alexis Mac Allister - Liverpool
Liverpool won the title quite comfortably under new manager Arne Slot. It was a wild success in the first season without Jurgen Klopp, and few expected the Reds to romp to the title in the dominant manner they achieved. Of course, when you look at the roster assembled, it should hardly be a surprise. Alexis Mac Allister put together a great season as a terrific all-around midfielder. The Argentinian was a constant on the side, and his partnership with Ryan Gravenberch looks like one that should have Liverpool set in the middle of the pitch for years to come.
8. Cole Palmer - Chelsea FC
Manager Enzo Maresca is showing signs that he might finally be the answer for the Blues. They spent more than 1.5 billion on a squad that failed to produce much of anything, and have continued to churn through players and managers. Still, they finished fourth in 2024-2025 and secured qualification for the Champions League next season. The defense improved, but the most impressive parts of the squad were in the middle of the pitch. Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Cole Palmer offer a ton of hope that next season could be special for Chelsea. Palmer, an attacking midfielder, is singled out here for his creative work in attack. He was fantastic in the campaign's first half, but seemed to wear down some towards the tail end of things. As he gets another year older and stronger, he could be one of the best at the position in the world.
9. William Saliba - Arsenal FC
Arsenal did a lot of things really well in the 2024-2025 season: they went 15 games unbeaten, reached the Champions League semifinals, and finished second in the Premier League. Still, it’s fair to say there were some real missed opportunities. They lost in the third round of the FA Cup, bowed out to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup, and did not end up threatening Liverpool for the league title. There were several standout individual performances for the Gunners, including defender Gabriel Magalhaes (an argument could be made that he should have this spot). Still, William Saliba has more of a track record and gets the nod at No. 9. Arsenal only surrendered 34 league goals, the lowest number in the league. Saliba was rock solid all season in the center of the defense, and he’s always reliable for a good performance.
