So why the sudden run? Well, Johnny Gaudreau – who was actually getting dropped in Fantasy Hockey leagues – has 13 points over Calgary’s current eight-game run and eight points in his last five games. Johnny Hockey is feeling it, and as you can imagine, so are his linemates Ferland and Sean Monahan.
Monahan is most likely owned in your league, but he has three goals and 10 points in his last eight hockey games and Ferland has found the back of the net six times over the winning streak.
Ferland is three percent owned in Yahoo! and ESPN leagues. The pucks are finding a way in right now and he’s unlikely to keep this pace up, but you have to love his current role on this team and his 19 shots on goal in his last eight games is something I can get behind. He’s had five games over that span with at least three shots on goal.
It wasn’t all good news in the 5-0 win Thursday over the visiting Montreal Canadiens as Dougie Hamilton (lower-body) and Michael Stone (upper-body) left the game. I’m not a doctor, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Stone suffered a separated shoulder and Hamilton left in serious discomfort breaking his stick on the bench on his way off the ice.
Hamilton was on top of his game of late, and at least the news seems encouraging for now.
Assistant coach Martin Gelinas says Dougie Hamilton should be back “sooner rather than later” on our postgame show tonight. #Flames

If one or both miss time, T.J. Brodie will benefit big time! He’s somebody I already own in leagues and have been playing consistently across DFS NHL sites. He’s much cheaper than the Hamilton’s and Mark Giordano‘s of the world.
Brodie played 26:47 during Thursday’s win and his 23:37 minutes per game over the last 30 days rank second on the team behind Giordano (23:43). Six seconds per game behind over the last month, but Brodie has actually played more minutes per game than anybody on the Flames over the last 14 days and he’s producing with two goals and six points over a current five-game streak. He won’t provide hits, but he’s blocking shots, putting pucks on net while playing on the power play. His likely headed for even more ice time making it hard to leave him on the wire.
After a slow start to the season, Brian Elliott is red hot over the last two weeks as well; 5 wins, 1.18 GAA, ,963 SV% with 1 shutout.
Conor Sheary is back producing which is not surprising. Now it’s time to focus in on Jake Guentzel who has goals in back-to-back games for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Guentzel put nine pucks on net in his last two games and has 20 shots over his last six contests. Playing with studs will improve anybody’s games. Six points in his last eight games and Patric Hornqvist sidelined with a concussion is great news for Guentzel. It means more ice time with those studs! Also, Mark Streit because Kris Letang does not seem anywhere close to returning from an upper-body injury.
