An MRI revealed that Yasmany Tomas’ lower back pain is actually due to a strained oblique. As of this writing his availability for Opening Day is in doubt…A.J. Pollock injured his left groin while jogging around the bases after hitting a home run. Yes, you read that correctly. It also should be noted that it was a left groin injury that prematurely ended his 2016 season. Fantasy analysts and owners alike have debated whether Pollock is injury prone and should be avoided in drafts. Well, I’m not investing a third round pick on a player who appears to be made of glass. If Tomas or Pollock are forced to miss extended periods of time, the Diamondbacks have plenty of moving parts on their roster who can help them absorb the loss. Brandon Drury and Chris Owings can both play in the outfield, while Nick Ahmed and Ketel Marte could replace them in the infield if necessary. Jeremy Hazelbaker or Oswaldo Arcia could also benefit from some extra at bats, but they don’t have any Fantasy value at this point.
