Polanco experienced a breakout in 2016, slugging 22 homers and driving in 86 runs. His start to 2017, however, has been less than stellar. His batting average and on-base percentage have risen in recent days to around his career averages, but the power and run production numbers still aren’t there. He has yet to hit a homer and has just six runs batted in on the season. One reason for Polanco’s power outage may be the groin injury that he dealt with in mid-April. Polanco is moving past the issue, however, as he has an above average Health Performance Factor according to Inside Injuries. It seems like Polanco’s improving health has led to his uptick in average over the past week or so, and the power numbers are likely to follow. He’s worth a look in a trade now before a possible power surge.
