The Cardinals ran the sixth highest percentage of passing plays in the NFL last season, but unfortunately, Carson Palmer took a big step backward. His yards per pass attempt and completion rate both took a big hit last season, and that contributed to him being just the 19th ranked Fantasy quarterback. In order to reverse this backward trend and give his 37-year-old arm a break, Palmer has cut back on his practice throws this offseason. He’ll also continue to skip regular season Wednesday workouts in 2017, a practice that the Cardinals implemented after last season’s bye week. In a typical 12-team Fantasy Football league, Palmer was being selected between the seventh and ninth round last season. This preseason, Fantasy Pros has him consensus ranked as the 22nd Fantasy QB, and he can be had in the 13th round. Drew Stanton will be his primary backup again this season, but former 2011 first round pick Blaine Gabbert has also been working with the Cardinals’ number one offensive unit. Palmer is not on my radar, but he still does have some good targets.
Larry Fitzgerald, who will be 34 years old at the start of the season, is coming off his second straight 100-plus pass receiving season, and has a legitimate chance at having another big year. From there it gets a little dicey.
