It’s easy for our biases to charge ahead of our common sense. Strong personal opinions can be the foundation of over-drafting a player, while the high expectations we unfairly place on them can be the main ingredient to brew a bust. Changes in circumstances or rookies brimming with potential inspire dreams of touchdowns and league titles, and we all fall victim to it. The place Fantasy owners need to go to re-acquire their sanity and to set proper expectations is the statistical well of “Touches and Targets.”

Bias can only go so far when drenched by the cold-water reality that a player’s touches and targets aren’t going to measure up. The flipside of that coin is that some perceived mediocre players are going to receive more opportunities and will be better Fantasy players than we instinctively thought.
