David Sills V, Gary Jennings and Will Grier: Determining What Is Real

What Mattered Most? Cowboys Amari Cooper’s Stock Continues to Rise

Cowboys Amari Cooper’s Stock Continues to Rise premium

The Week 10 Fantasy Football Stock Report

Stock Up

He’s on a bye this week, but Baker Mayfield now has multiple TD passes in four straight games. In the past two weeks, he’s definitely shown strides in getting the offense moving. Last week, he needed just 20 attempts to total over 200 yards and three scores. Mayfield gets the Bengals weak secondary in Week 12. There’s a good chance he’s still on your waiver wire because he’s not playing this week. Scoop him up if your current QB is struggling or on a Week 12 bye. Perhaps the personnel changes in Cleveland will benefit the young signal caller’s development.

Rashaad Penny finally showed why he was a sleeper pick heading into the season. The bad news here is that Chris Carson is coming back from injury (again) and Mike Davis looks very capable in his own right. Still, Penny needs to be owned in all formats and his arrow is pointing up. He had been showing signs of life in recent weeks before Week 10’s outburst. The coaching staff sounds as if they have more confidence in Penny now and this performance is sure to earn him more carries. He’s a risky Flex play until we see how the carries are distributed.

Amari Cooper is taking nicely to the change of scenery. With the Raiders, he was extremely boom or bust, with two games of more than 100 yards and four games of under 20. In his two appearances with the Cowboys, Cooper has 58 and 75 yards, along with his second score of the season. Expect him to continue to get a healthy dose of targets from Dak Prescott moving forward. He’s certainly back in the WR2 conversation at the right time for Fantasy owners.

Ricky Seals-Jones is a great example of the frustration of the tight end position this year. He is a big, athletic target with intriguing upside, yet gets inconsistent targets in a lackluster passing attack. He did receive nine targets last week and that alone makes him worth a look on your waiver wire. Josh Rosen’s passing attempts and overall volume numbers have been up since Byron Leftwich took over the play-calling, another plus for Seals-Jones. Consider him worthy of a stream this week if you are desperate. Let’s face it, you probably are.

Stock Down

Matthew Stafford has been consistent this year, with two scores in six of his last seven games. He struggled mightily in Week Nine against the Vikings and then salvaged his day last week with a couple late scores in typical Stafford fashion. The loss of Golden Tate also could be having an impact on Stafford’s ability to keep the offense moving. With Carolina, Chicago again and the Rams coming up next, Stafford is a risky play. It’s time to search the waiver wire if you had been rolling with the Lions’ slinger.

Kenyan Drake and his owners are finding out the hard way that you simply cannot get rid of Frank Gore. Despite being clearly a better overall option as playmaking threat that can run between the tackles and as a receiver out of the backfield, Drake continues to be out-touched by Gore. Drake belongs on your bench until this trend changes. As for Gore, he’s a boring Flex play thanks to a solid floor of volume, much like he’s been for the last few years.

Remember back in Week One when Kenny Stills was busting out to the tune of 4-106-2? It seems like forever ago, because he’s done very little since. In fact, he hasn’t caught more than three passes in a game and outside of Week Three’s 61 yards and a score, Stills has failed to top 40 yards or find the end zone since. Perhaps the return of Ryan Tannehill will boost Stills’ stock back up, because he clearly has no rapport with current starter Brock Osweiler. Unless you are in a deep league, you can safely cut Stills.

Trey Burton has had a solid first season as a starting tight end. In terms of Fantasy, he’s been certainly above average, but not quite the breakout many were hoping for. Still, his five scores and regular targets make him a weekly TE1 consideration. There are minor concerns that would be magnified slightly if not for a brutal TE position. He hasn’t topped 40 yards since Week Seven and has just one game with more than four catches. Plus, the mysteriously intriguing behemoth Adam Shaheen is nearing his return, which could eat into Burton’s target share. Maybe that is being too picky, though, because if you own Burton you’ll likely be happy to plug and play him each week.
