The most notable waiver adds as the 2018 Fantasy Playoffs open

If you’re reading this article it means you’re playing for something in Week 14, which is typically recognized as the first week in the Fantasy Football playoffs. That something is a potential Fantasy Football championship, and while you still should be working the waiver wire let’s make one thing clear. You shouldn’t be looking to revamp your team.
Think of this waiver wire period as an opportunity to solidify your roster. Other than your regular starters, try to roster as many players that can help you in case of an emergency.
Kareem Hunt owners who weren’t wise enough to roster his handcuff, Spencer Ware, were faced with an emergency situation this past Friday. That situation is a good example of how important it is for Fantasy players need to create a roster deep enough to withstand the potential unpredictability of an NFL season.
While we’re not advising you to rebuild your lineup heading into Week 14, there are some interesting players who have emerged as viable options for you.
Jeff Wilson, RB, San Francisco 49ers, (0% ownership in CBSSports.com leagues)
The 49ers have already announced that Matt Breida will be out in Week 14. Don’t worry about Alfred Morris having a role in the 49ers backfield. That ship has long since sailed away. Wilson, who rushed for 61 yards and caught eight passes for another 73 yards, should be the 49ers lead back at home against the Broncos. Wilson might not have played for a big time school but he did enjoy some success, scoring 30 TDs and posting a 6.02 YPC average in his final two years at the University of North Texas. Volume doesn’t always guarantee Fantasy production but it should help Wilson take a step in the right direction in the coming weeks.
Waiver Priority: High. Breida has been dealing with injuries all season. Wilson could be the 49ers lead back for the rest of the season.
FAAB – All of it.
Jaylen Samuels, RB/TE, Pittsburgh Steelers, (13%)
The Steelers are calling James Conner’s injury a lower leg contusion and there is even speculation that he may be able to play in Week 14 against the Raiders. Even if that is true, if the Steelers jump out to a sizeable early lead as game script would suggest, we might not see too much of Conner this week. Samuels scored double digit Fantasy points in very limited action in traditional PPR scoring formats in Week 13. Steelers RBs have a very favorable matchup this week and Samuels provides Fantasy owners who play in Yahoo leagues with an added bonus. He’s eligible at both RB and TE!
Waiver Priority: High. If the Steelers are smart, Conner probably doesn’t play much, if at all this week. Take advantage of Samuel’s juicy matchup if you’re in desperate need of a RB or TE. He is a bit of a risky start with the uncertainty regarding Conner’s condition, which should be monitored closely.
FAAB – If you want him you’re going to have to bid aggressively. He looked pretty good and a national TV audience got to see it which means you’ll have plenty of competition for his services.

UPDATE: The Steelers have ruled out Conner for Week 14, and Samuels should lead Mike Tomlin’s reported committee approach at RB.
Damien Williams, RB, Kansas City Chiefs, (10%)
I’m presuming that Spencer Ware has already been picked up in your league. Otherwise, Williams is a good speculative add based on Ware’s injury history and his lack of recent playing time. Ware’s idle status before Hunt was injured may make him unable to withstand the rigors of being a bell cow back. You can’t expect Ware to be able to carry the ball 20 times a game after basically sitting back and watching the 2018 season from the sidelines. The fact that the Chiefs signed Charcandrick West is a good indication that they are wary of Ware’s durability. West was even more far removed from the game, so if Ware needs a breather or if he should be limited due to an injury look for Williams to outsnap West.
Waiver Priority: Medium. Ware was the guy who got all the attention on the waiver wire once the ugly news about Hunt became public but Williams is one step away from potentially being the main guy in the Chiefs backfield.
FAAB – Be aggressive.

A.J. Green will undergo season-ending surgery to repair torn ligaments in his toe. Don’t replace him with boom-or-bust WR John Ross. Here are a couple of options:
