An Essential Handcuff to Add, Waiver Tips and Week 11 Outlooks

An Essential Handcuff to Add, Waiver Tips and Week 11 Outlooks

The King’s Advance Scout provides a look ahead and waiver wire tidbits

-Thursday’s game between the Seahawks and the Packers has an early total of 49, and I would take the over. We already know the Seahawks have the most run-heavy attack in the NFL, and Green Bay allows 120.9 rush yards per game, 21st in the league. It may be a short week for Chris Carson to return, so you can queue up Mike Davis to start, and Rashaad Penny will likely share some touches again after his Week 11 explosive flashes. Seattle is not about go heavily away from Davis despite the promise of Penny, who can still be considered a flex option in a week when six teams have byes. Seattle’s pass defense ranks eighth, but has been exposed more in the last two games. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has good upside for Week 11.

-Two tough run defenses face off when the second-ranked Bears take on the third-ranked Vikings in Week 11. The Bears allow 84 rush yards per game, but you cannot consider sitting Dalvin Cook after he had another week off to rest and Kerryon Johnson scored twice vs. the Bears Sunday. It’s obviously advised to not lean heavily on Jordan Howard, but if the Bears move the ball effectively in the air, he could always finish up a drive with a short TD run. Minnesota is tied for the league lead with 31 sacks but Mitchell Trubisky can be evasive and can also dump off to Tarik Cohen when pressured. After a 100-yard outing, rookie WR Anthony Miller deserves waiver consideration if you lost Cooper Kupp or still need depth.

-The Tennessee pass defense ranks seventh in the league right now and looked quite sturdy against the Patriots in Week 10. But in a new era when potent offenses overcome even the best defenses regularly, a matchup with the Colts is not a good one. Andrew Luck has thrown three TD passes in six consecutive games behind stellar pass protection. Don’t fret about starting Luck or any of his top pass-catchers. Gone are the Fantasy days when you should fear any defense against your best starters. The Colts rank 22nd against the pass, so Marcus Mariota may keep rolling as well. Jonnu Smith has scored in two consecutive games and is worth some waiver consideration if you need a filler at the position this week.

-The Arizona defense will be a popular stream in Week 11 as they host the Raiders. The unit sacked Patrick Mahomes five times on Sunday and held him to 249 yards, his lowest total of the season. They will be a prime Week 11 waiver add. Larry Fitzgerald has also re-emerged as a viable Fantasy starter, with WR3 status. He has caught 18 passes for 201 yards and two TDs in his past three games. New offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich has re-energized Fitzgerald also while all the buzz is about David Johnson. But rookie Christian Kirk has only five catches for 50 yards in his last two games and may soon be a cut candidate as the offensive focus has returned to Johnson and Fitzgerald.

-As we watch for the status of James Conner for Week 11, it’s very important to add his handcuff from the waiver wire this week. When Conner left last Thursday’s game to get checked for a concussion, rookie Jaylen Samuels scored his first NFL touchdown. With Le’Veon Bell not likely to be a factor for the Steelers anymore, Samuels now becomes the essential handcuff to Conner. As the playoffs approach and the trading deadline passes, now is the time to start rostering the direct handcuffs for your starting running backs. Get rid of the guys on your bench that you won’t start and stop waiting for players to break out if they haven’t by now. You must have the top backup for your starting RBs as important injury insurance.

-Jaguars WR Donte Moncrief exacted revenge on his former team, the Colts, in Week 11. He caught three passes for 98 yards and a TD. Moncrief is owned in only of 15 percent of ESPN leagues and largely goes overlooked in Fantasy circles. He does have four double figure PPR performances in his last six games, though, and is worth a waiver add for WR depth. Consider using him as a bye week filler in Week 11 vs. Pittsburgh.

-The Cowboys finally played well on the road Sunday night and now head to Atlanta for a key NFC matchup featuring two teams that are battling to stay in the playoff picture. Dallas won against Philadelphia because they stuck to what they do best, running Ezekiel Elliott. If you traded for him before Week 10, when some owners worried about his production, you did a good job. Dak Prescott is a solid streamer against the Falcons’ 27th-ranked pass defense, and Amari Cooper has looked steady so far, which is a new way to describe him. Grab Cole Beasley off the waiver wire if you are desperate for WR help in a PPR league in Week 11. Cooper’s presence has started to open up things more for his fellow WRs in Dallas, and in the right matchup like this one, either Beasley or Allen Hurns can come off the waiver wire for one week and help out.

– Do not bother picking up newest Saint Brandon Marshall from the waiver wire. After the very bad news on Dez Bryant, New Orleans felt they still needed a big-bodied WR to fill out their pass-catching corps. Marshall may catch the occasional TD in the goal line area, but you will never start him during these key weeks leading up to the playoffs. He will be a waste of a roster spot if you are considering adding him at all.

-Golden Tate was a non-factor in his Eagles debut, so that may make his current owners panicky. Swoop in before the upcoming trade deadline in your league and make an offer. Very soon, once he adapts to his new team and offense, he’ll resurface as a key chain-mover and PPR WR2.
