Your Best Friend’s Ranks: Frank Stampfl’s Week Six Lineup Ranks and High Five

Frank Stampfl offers his Week Six Fantasy Football lineup ranks

Running back has been the usual nightmare position for Fantasy Football this season, but it becomes even harder in Week 6 due to the bye weeks of Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, and, to a lesser extent, Kerryon Johnson. While the Eagles running back situation might be frustrating because Doug Pederson is a firm believer in RBBC, both Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood could be viable on Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants. The numbers don’t lie when it comes to Big Blue. They’re allowing 4.6 yards per carry this season, tied for eighth most as well as the seventh most PPR points to opposing running backs. If you needed any more validation, they’re 25th in DVOA against the run. Both Clement and Smallwood are in the low-end RB2/high-end flex discussion in Week six because of the running back landscape.

I never thought I’d be an advocate of the Seahawks’ rushing attack, but they’ve turned the corner. Perhaps it was D.J. Fluker getting healthy over the past few weeks but whatever they did, it’s working. While Chris Carson is the name most will flock to, and I agree they should, don’t sleep on Mike Davis as a flex option. Since getting his opportunity in Week Four, Davis has rushed 33 times for 169 yards (5.1 YPC) with three touchdowns, adding six receptions for 30 yards. Also, consider this: Davis didn’t receive regular reps until two games ago, yet he already leads the Seahawks with seven rushing attempts in the red zone and has 100 percent of the team’s rushing attempts within the five-yard line. In Week Six, the Seahawks will face the Raiders, who are allowing 4.9 yards per carry and the eighth-most fantasy points to running backs.

60. Six. Zero. That is the point total between the Patriots and Chiefs this week, according to the FanDuel Sportsbook. It’s the highest mark of any game this season and, honestly, I’m not sure it’s high enough. There will be plenty of points scored in this matchup. While everybody will be focused on Tyreek Hill and Julian Edelman, make sure to get Sammy Watkins in your lineup as well. You might not realize this, but Watkins has actually seen more targets than Hill in the past three games they both started and finished together. Additionally, he’s found some consistency with the Chiefs, posting at least 75 total yards or more in each of those three games. The Patriots have been better recently against wide receivers but that was against the Colts’ B-team and the fool’s gold Dolphins. Before those matchups we saw both the Lions and Jaguars wide receivers expose that Pats secondary. Watkins is a WR2 in this matchup.

I’m not really sure what Tyler Lockett has to do to get more respect but he’s the WR15 to this point in the Fantasy Football season. Doug Baldwin has been banged up and inconsistent, Brandon Marshall has been phased out, and I don’t have much faith in the former seventh-round pick David Moore. In an offense that has been rather bland and unexciting, Lockett has been incredibly consistent for Fantasy purposes. He’s had at least 53 receiving yards in every game, scoring on four different occasions. The matchup with the Oakland Raiders in Week Six is a good one, too. The Raiders have allowed six 40-plus yard receptions this season, tied for most in the league. Tyler Lockett also leads the Seahawks in air yards with 370 and it’s not particularly close. Look for Lockett to keep it rolling in this matchup as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3.

It almost feels dirty being higher on Demaryius Thomas than the consensus just because it seems like anytime he does something good, he’s a sell-high candidate. Fantasy owners don’t trust Thomas like they used to and rightfully so. I say trust him for one more week, then sell. The Broncos face the Rams in Week Six as a seven-point home dog, which means they could be playing from behind in this matchup. Additionally, the Rams’ secondary has not been as daunting since the loss of Aqib Talib. Marcus Peters just takes too many chances and has routinely been burned. Over the past three games, the Rams have allowed eight touchdowns to opposing wide receivers. In Week Four, specifically, against the Vikings they allowed 25 receptions, 338 yards, and three touchdowns… to wide receivers only! I say Thomas has one more productive week and then maybe you try and sell him.

Honorable mention: Chester Rogers, only if you’re in a pinch. It looks like TY Hilton is going to miss another week and Rogers has 22 targets over his past two games. Also, the Jets allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
