The Week 14 Fantasy Football Stock Report

Stock Up

If you need QB help, Jameis Winston should be on your streaming radar for Week 14. There’s a great chance that the Bucs are playing catch up against Drew Brees and the Saints, meaning 30-plus attempts are very likely. Winston has two scores in each of the last three games and, more impressively, hasn’t thrown a pick in the last two weeks. Even with DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard sidelined, Tampa Bay’s lack of a legitimate run game and terrible defense are always going to give Winston a shot at accumulating Fantasy stats. Use him this week and then cut him loose because the Ravens and Cowboys are up next.

Phillip Lindsay is on a heater. The undrafted rookie just set a career high with 157 rushing yards on just 19 carries. He’s scored five times in the last three weeks and is averaging just under eight yards per carry in that span. He’s made high upside rookie Royce Freeman nothing more than a change of pace option. Additional passing game work would only add to his Fantasy floor, but that is just being greedy. Lindsay is an RB1 right now with massive weekly upside.

With DeSean Jackson sidelined, Chris Godwin has seized the opportunity to get back on the Fantasy radar. He rattled off a 5-102-1 line against the Panthers last week, his first trip to the end zone since Week Six. Godwin’s ball skills and athletic ability have him in prime position to be a key contributor with rumors that Jackson could miss the rest of the year. He’s still battling Adam Humphries and of course Mike Evans for targets, but there’s WR3 potential without question.

Jonnu Smith didn’t do much when Delanie Walker went down early in the year, but he is starting to get more involved in the Titans’ offense. The young TE has at least two receptions in six straight and he’s scored three times in his last five games. The 23-year-old has the athleticism and strength to be an impact move tight end, but clearly has some additional development needed before he can come close to replacing a player as integral as Walker. In the crapshoot that is the TE position for the remainder of 2018, he’s a streaming option if you are in a bind. In dynasty formats, he’s definitely a name to monitor as Walker will enter 2019 on the last year of his deal.

Stock Down

Since Golden Tate left town, Matthew Stafford hasn’t eclipsed 275 yards passing, while throwing four TDs and five picks in five games. It’s not all because of Golden Tate, though. Impressive rookie Kerryon Johnson has missed time, Marvin Jones is on IR and the Lions have faced some strong defenses, including the Bears twice. Heading into a pivotal Week 14 Fantasy matchup, you simply cannot afford to roll with Stafford against a stingy Cardinals defense. After a frustrating season of uneven performances, Stafford will be an excellent late round QB target in 2019.

David Johnson owners watched as rookie Chase Edmonds from Fordham converted two red zone opportunities into scores. Johnson does have over 1,000 total yards and eight scores on a brutal Cardinals team, but it feels like a disappointment for a player taken in the top half of the first round. He has just one game with more than 100 yards rushing and has exceeded 41 yards receiving once. The touches have been there just about all season, but the poor (developing) QB play and overall lack of offensive weapons has proven more than Johnson can overcome. He’s a low-end RB1 play against the Lions, but hopes for a late season surge have subsided after last week.

Alshon Jeffery missed three games to start the year, but quickly made up for lost time. He had 306 yards on 25 receptions and four scores in four games. Over the last five games, he’s registered 18 receptions for just 186 yards and zero TDs. After at least eight targets in each of the first four games, he’s hit that total just once since. Golden Tate could be cutting into his targets, and Carson Wentz hasn’t been particularly sharp over the past two months. He’s always had a WR1 ceiling, but Jeffery is hard to trust as anything more than a FLEX play against the Cowboys in Week 14.

Jordan Reed is finally staying healthy, but we cannot say the same for the QBs around him. Now with Colt McCoy down and out, the Redskins have had no choice but to turn to recently signed Mark Sanchez. To be fair, Reed looks like he’s lost a step, which is to be expected considering the amount of injuries he’s dealt with in his career. The Giants have allowed a TE score in two straight games, but they have allowed only three total TE touchdowns this season. While he’s still a TE1 option, he’s definitely on the low end with a revolving door at QB. On the bright side: if he plays three more games this year, he’ll set a new career high.
