San Francisco was one of the best teams in the league last year. They did so by playing stifling defense and abusing their opponents with a very creative power run scheme. Only two teams ran the ball more than they did last year. Opposing defenses knew it was coming and they still jammed the ball down their throats.
In a must-win game, the 49ers got back to what they do best, and gave running back Frank Gore 24 carries. He rewarded them with 119 yards. If you include the 55 yard touchdown reception, this was his best game in terms of total yardage since Week 7 back in 2012, against Seattle.
