Injury Outlooks for Steelers James Conner, Colts T,Y. Hilton

The latest in-depth injury updates from insideinjuries.com

James Conner RB, Steelers: ankle injury

Conner finally returned to practice on Friday after suffering an ankle sprain in week 13. The Steelers said from the beginning that Conner didn’t need to practice to play, but it’s at least a small step in the right direction that he was limited on Friday. He is still a few weeks away from being healthy, but his Injury Risk did improve from High to Elevated. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, his Health Performance Factor (our unit for measuring player performance) is still Below Average. The ankle sprain will affect Conner’s explosiveness and cutting, making him a risky fantasy option if he’s out there.

LeSean McCoy RB, Bills: hamstring strain

If McCoy is active in Week 15, it’s hard to say he shouldn’t be in lineups. He returned to practice on Thursday after suffering a hamstring injury last weekend, a sign he’s trending in the right direction. Hamstring strains are tricky injuries and he has a history of hamstring problems, so McCoy is at a High Risk of aggravating the injury if he plays through it. He’s only a week removed from the injury, and the Inside Injuries algorithm is calculating a minimum 2 week Optimal Recovery Time.

T.Y Hilton WR, Colts: ankle injury

Hilton did not practice at all this week after popping up on the injury report with an ankle injury. The Colts have said they are waiting to see how Hilton responds before they make a call on his Week 15 availability. Hilton is having trouble staying healthy this year and was limited last week with a shoulder injury. At this point, he’s likely dealing with at least a mild ankle sprain, an injury that comes with a 3 week Optimal Recovery Time. Hilton will be far from 100% if he tries to play this weekend.

Ezekiel Elliott RB, Cowboys: shoulder injury

Elliott should be good-to-go for Week 15 despite dealing with a shoulder injury. He missed practice on Wednesday but returned as a full participant on Thursday, all but ensuring his availability this weekend. He might be hindered a bit by the injury, especially with regards to blocking and ball security.

Doug Baldwin WR, Seahawks: hip injury

Baldwin missed MNF with a hip injury, and the Seahawks are hoping he’ll only miss one game. He missed practice on Wednesday but was back out there as a limited participant on Thursday. His durability this season has been highly questionable and he remains a High Injury Risk due to past knee injuries and a recent groin injury. Even if Baldwin is active, he isn’t very good at playing while injured and the Inside Injuries algorithm is projecting that he will be playing at about 55%.

Ben Roethlisberger QB, Steelers: ribs

There was never much doubt about Roethlisberger’s availability for Week 15 after suffering a ribs injury, but a DNP on Wednesday was a little nerve wracking. Luckily, he returned as a full participant on Thursday. Roethlisberger will be vulnerable to any big hits in Week 15, and extra padding around his chest could affect mobility. He should still be considered a fantasy start, but it’s possible he misses a few snaps if he takes a big hit to the chest.

Austin Hooper TE, Falcons: knee and ankle injuries

Hooper missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, but his return on Friday gives him a chance to suit up this weekend. There is still a lot of reasons to be concerned here though. He’s dealing with two lower body injuries, knee and ankle, on the same leg. The Falcons removed him from the final injury report, suggesting he’ll be out there, but he will be far from 100%. Be wary of keeping him in your lineup this weekend.

Matt Breida WR, 49ers: ankle injury

Breida has essentially missed the past two games with an ankle sprain, and he could be ready to make his return in Week 15. Though he sat out Wednesday, Breida was back out at practice on Thursday as a limited participant. He’s been battling this ankle injury all season, and he won’t be able to shake it until he takes a multi-week absence. At less than 100%, Breida will be a risky flex play if he can go this weekend.

Follow Inside Injuries on Twitter for breaking news and updates on all of these players heading into week 15.
