I like a sure thing in the first round. I’ve preached loudly against drafting Bryce Harper in round 1 due to what I always call his reckless style of play, and what was a really putrid 2016 (by Harper standards). Here are his last three seasons:
His power looked about on track to net another 40 HR and exceed 100 RBI and possibly 120 runs last season, but, as we know, he got hurt. Harper owns first round talent, no doubt, but in the last two seasons he’s suffered an injury and a season-long “slump.” After his down season in 2016 he was number 9 ADP. This spring he’s number 7. We love Bryce Harper in the first round.
