Jets Isaiah Crowell Among Week Nine Sneaky Plays

Jets Isaiah Crowell Among Week Nine Sneaky Plays

Your Sneaky Fantasy Football Plays for Week Nine

QB

Alex Smith vs. Atlanta Falcons

After three straight weeks of sub-200 yard passing performances, many owners have probably given up on Alex Smith. That may be the case in most weeks, but in Week Nine the matchup may just be too juicy to pass up. Smith will get to face a Falcons defense that is among the league’s worst in points allowed to the position (24.79 Fantasy PPG). In a game where the Falcons offense should be able to put points on the board, Smith and the Redskins offense must be up to the task to answer. Even with the shortage of weapons to utilize, I could see Smith post numbers that will be worth streaming him for the week. A 275-yard, two touchdown game might not be eye-popping, but in a week with several teams on bye, owners could be desperate for a quality play. Smith could be your guy here in season-long formats. In DFS, he will probably go overlooked and could be a low-cost option that helps you build a great lineup.

RB

Isaiah Crowell @ Miami Dolphins

This is another player that has been ice cold as of late. Since his huge 219-yard game in Week Five, Crowell has yet to eclipse 45 yards on the ground. In Week Nine, the Jets go on the road to face a Dolphins defense that is currently a bottom tier unit in Points Allowed to Opposing Running Backs (24.78 Fantasy PPG). With Bilal Powell on injured reserve, the weight of the load in the rushing attack is squarely on Crowell’s shoulders. Can he take advantage in this matchup? If the volume is there, I expect Crowell to give you a solid 90 yard, one touchdown stat line. That is good enough to be a low-end RB2/Flex play in any format. As a DFS play, he could certainly be a sneaky option to go with due to his recent struggles. Slide him into your lineup as his ownership should be very low in Week Nine.

WR

D.J. Moore vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Since the Week Four bye, Moore has found himself getting more and more involved in the offense. Last week was his best game to date (five catches for 90 yards) and I expect that to improve in Week Nine. He will be matched up against a Buccaneers secondary that is currently at the bottom of the league in Points Allowed to receivers (31.07 Fantasy PPG). With the news of Ryan Fitzpatrick back as the starting quarterback for the Bucs, this game could easily become one of the higher scoring games of the week. If that does become the case, the Panthers will have to continue throwing the ball to stay ahead and bring home a win. That means more opportunities for Moore to capitalize on. Look for Moore to get his first 100-yard game in the NFL as well as a TD. He is worthy of a look as a Flex option if you need a filler for the bye week. In DFS, Moore will be jumbled in with a numerous amount of players at a lower price range. If he hits, it could go a long way to helping you cash in big.

TE

Mark Andrews vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

No one truly knows in a given week which tight end will be featured in the Ravens passing game. But coming off his best game to date, Andrews could take advantage of a great matchup against a Steelers defense that has been soft against opposing tight ends (10.74 Fantasy PPG). Look for Andrews to haul in five catches for 60 yards and a score in this divisional tilt. He is stream worthy at the thin tight end position for Week Nine. When it comes to DFS, he will nearly be free to roster, giving you flexibility to build your lineup.

DEF

Dallas Cowboys vs. Tennessee Titans

The Cowboys defense may not give you a ton of points when it comes to turnovers and scores. But one thing they do really well is get after the quarterback. With the Titans offensive line having problems recently in pass protection, look for the Cowboys to bring the pressure. This defense may not pile up the points by the end of the game, but they will be solid enough as a bye week streaming option for you.
