Marcus Mariota vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: Sure, Marcus Mariota has been a vast disappointment during the 2017 season. So, why suggest starting him in this matchup against the Jaguars defense? Because it is a do or die game for the Titans’ playoff hopes. Odds are that the Jaguars will be resting key players in this game, giving Mariota the opportunity to get looks against a second-string defense. They will have to get some points on the board early, so look for Mariota to go to the air to move the ball. Will he light up the scoreboard? Probably not. But a 275-yard, two touchdown effort isn’t too bad for a QB that you can get on the cheap ($6,700 on FanDuel) in DFS. If you have a Week 17 season-long playoff, and need to find a QB to stream because yours might be sitting, give Mariota a look as he may very well finally payoff.
Tion Green vs. Green Bay Packers: With both teams in this matchup officially out of the playoffs, I expect the Lions to do some evaluation in this game. Tion Green has been performing well in limited snaps, so the coaching staff could very well give him an extended look. If he manages to get 15 touches in this game, he could provide a fairly decent day in Fantasy against one of the worst defenses in the league against opposing RBs. I can see Green going for 75 yards and a score in this game, making him a sneaky flex play in season-long leagues. In DFS, he is essentially a free play at only $4,900 over at FanDuel.
Martavis Bryant vs. Cleveland Browns: The Steelers still have a shot at the number one seed in the AFC and will still be without Antonio Brown, so Martavis Bryant has to step up. He’s had back to back games with either a touchdown or 60 yards over the last two weeks. In Week 17, he will be facing a Browns secondary that is very susceptible to the big play. Look for Bryant to get over the top for a long score in this game and easily give you a 100-yard performance. He’s a WR3 in season-long formats this week, and in DFS, his $7,400 price tag might be a bit high but will also steer other owners away from him, so his ownership should be very low.
Ben Watson vs. Cincinnati Bengals: With nine catches and a score over his last two games, Ben Watson is gaining some consistency as the Ravens’ offense picks up steam. This week, he draws a matchup against a Bengals defense that is in the bottom third in points allowed to opposing tight ends. I expect him to get another five catches in this game for 70 yards and a potential score. He is a streaming option in season-long leagues for Week 17. In DFS, his FanDuel price tag of $5,100 makes him a cheap option with a high floor, something we all look for.
Robbie Gould @ Los Angeles Rams: Over the last month, the best kicker in Fantasy is Robbie Gould. As the 49ers offense continues to play well under Jimmy Garoppolo, playing Gould should be a no-brainer. The Rams are playing for seeding, meaning that this could be high-scoring game. Gould should see a few opportunities in this game, making him start-worthy yet again.
Washington Redskins @New York Giants: The New York Giants are limping to the finish line of the 2017 season, and I fully expect this team to play uninspired football in the last regular season game. That puts the Redskins’ defense on tap as one that could be a sneaky play in Week 17. Look for the Redskins to put the pressure on Eli Manning in this game, causing a couple of turnovers and a number of sacks. This defense has the potential to go for a touchdown as well in this matchup. Plug them in and play them this week.
