Three Ways The Passing Revolution Could Alter Fantasy Football In 2019 Last season, the NFL saw a total of  17,671 pass attempts or 34.5 for each team per game. In 2017, that number was 34.2. The average team scored 21.7 points per game in 2017, while the average team scored 23.3 points per game in…

Matchups to Exploit: Ravens John Brown, Broncos Phillip Lindsay

Matchups to Exploit: Ravens John Brown, Broncos Phillip Lindsay

Week Four Matchups To Exploit

Week Four is jam-packed with matchups that can be exposed by wide receivers and running backs. Things do not always work out as they do on paper, with coaches adjusting mid-game and scheming against key players. But being aware of who has the easiest paths to Fantasy scoring explosions is crucial every week. These players enter Week Four with pristine matchups and can help earn Daily Fantasy profits or a win in season-long leagues.

Mike Williams vs Jimmie Ward

The 49ers pass defense has been one of the worst units so far this season, and now without Richard Sherman for a few weeks, it will be even worse. They have allowed the fifth-most Fantasy points to wide receivers. Williams will be able to expose the secondary in a matchup with Jimmie Ward, who has allowed a perfect passer rating to quarterbacks. Williams is coming off his best game of his career with 81 yards and two touchdowns, and should be able to find the end zone again this week. Keenan Allen is also dealing with a knee injury, making him miss Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices. He was limited on Friday.

Sterling Shepard vs P.J. Williams

The Saints had enough of Ken Crawley in coverage after Week Two, making them turn to P.J. Williams as the second cornerback in Week Three . Williams did not look much better, as he allowed seven receptions for 136 yards and three touchdowns. There is no reason for offenses to stop forcing the issue against the Saints’ second cornerback, and Shepard is the beneficiary of that matchup this week. In the first three weeks, the second wide receivers have gone for 373 yards and six touchdowns vs, the Saints. Even if Shepard isn’t getting great separation against Williams, there are more targets to go around with Evan Engram out, and Shepard can see more than 10 targets in a potential shootout with the Saints.

John Brown vs Joe Haden / Coty Sensabaugh

John Brown has been one of the best values at wide receiver so far this year. He is currently WR27 in PPR and was drafted as a WR4 on most Fantasy teams. He will continue to add to his great season in a prime matchup against the Steelers cornerbacks, who have been terrible in coverage this season. They are allowing the second-most Fantasy points to wide receivers and have yielded big games to Sammy Watkins, Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin over the last two weeks. Brown should see a healthy number of targets in a passing offense that has averaged 44 attempts per game, the fourth most in the NFL. If Brown gets lined up on Coty Sensabaugh a majority of the time, the sky is the limit for his receiving total.

Giovani Bernard vs ATL

Bernard is in a dream matchup this week against the Falcons. Atlanta has been feeding Fantasy points to receiving backs similar to Bernard. Alvin Kamara was able to get 15 receptions for 124 yards and Christian McCaffrey collected 14 receptions for 102 yards against the Falcons. Bernard saw 88 percent of the snaps last week, and will see a healthy number of snaps again with Joe Mixon out. Bernard is a must-play this week and will be a popular option in Daily Fantasy for good reason.

Phillip Lindsay vs K.C.

Lindsay has been one of the most impressive rookies this year, but had a short game last week due to an ejection in the second quarter. Going against the Chiefs this week, the Broncos have a good chance of trailing and working from behind. With this type of expected game flow, I expect to see more Lindsay than Royce Freeman. The Chiefs have allowed the most receiving yards to running backs this year due to their poor linebacker play, and Lindsay can get the better of them this week.

Kerryon Johnson vs DAL

It was the coming-out party for Kerryon Johnson last week against the Patriots on Sunday Night Football. Just watching the game, you could see how much more upside Johnson gives the offense compared to LeGarrette Blount, and there is good reason to give him more snaps and work. His touches have gone up from eight to 13 to 18 in the first three weeks, and the matchup against a Cowboys defense without Sean Lee is certainly favorable for Johnson and the Lions’ offense. When Lee was out last year, the Cowboys allowed 4.8 yards per carry, which was the most in the league. I am expecting a very effective game for Johnson with the ability to hit 20 touches if he continues to be the hot hand.
