A look at the players to keep an eye on in deeper leagues, though you don’t have to pick them all up just yet
Welcome to Week Seven of The Watch List. With some injuries around the league, there are more and more players who should be monitored. Though there are not many players who can be added now, here are some players who should be on your radar when you’re watching games this week:
Tajae Sharpe, Tennessee Titans WR
Though he has seen some action here and there this season, Tajae Sharpe showed out in Week Seven. With just nine catches in his first six games, Sharpe hauled in seven passes on nine targets during Sunday’s loss in London. Sharpe totaled 101 yards on those seven receptions and was the most involved receiver in the Titans’ offense. He had a productive rookie season in 2016 but was put on the IR last season with a foot injury. Sharpe should watched closely in all formats.
Chris Herndon, New York Jets TE
That makes two consecutive weeks in which Chris Herndon found the end zone. He is still just one percent owned in Yahoo leagues but continues to stay involved and gets better each week. Herndon was targeted seven times on Sunday, which was the second-most of any Jet. Tight end has been ugly all season long, so Herndon is worth monitoring moving forward.
Trenton Cannon, New York Jets RB
Another Jet to keep an eye on is running back Trenton Cannon. Bilal Powell has been placed on the IR with a neck injury and Isaiah Crowell has been battling an ankle injury. With no Powell, Cannon was involved in the passing game with four receptions for 69 yards. He is now the second running back in the Jets’ backfield for the time being. Cannon is more suited for PPR leagues until we see more of what he is able to do. He is not a player who should be considered at this point in the season.
Devontae Booker, Denver Broncos RB
With two rookies running the show in the Broncos’ backfield, Devontae Booker has not had much of a chance. Though Booker has had some involvement in the passing game with 16 receptions so far, there has been no consistency. However, Royce Freeman is now dealing with an ankle sprain that could sideline him in the upcoming weeks. If he is unable to go, Booker is an immediate plug-and-play candidate. Inside Injuries has Freeman’s healthy to return date at October 30 which would hold him out for Week Eight. We don’t have any further information, but Booker could provide some temporary relief at the running back position.
Leonte Carroo, Miami Dolphins WR
Is there even a healthy Dolphins wide receiver anymore? After placing Albert Wilson in the IR and leaving Kenny Stills behind this week with a groin injury, the Dolphins are looking for an answer. It might just be Leonte Carroo. Though he has not yet been activated to the 53-man roster, Carroo did make the trip to Houston this week. According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins traveled with three practice squad receivers this week and will be looking to promote someone. Don’t be surprised if Carroo, a former third-round pick, gets his name called on Sunday.
