Week 14 Waiver Wire Players To Pick Up For The Playoffs

RotoExperts Staff December 5, 2017 9:50PM EST
You did it! You made the Fantasy football playoffs.

Then you go to set your Week 14 lineup, and you (sadly) see that you’ve got a brutal matchup in line for a player you had expected to start this week.

As it’s an obvious must-win, and all of those back-end QB1s, RB2s, and WR3s are 100 percent benchable. That also means you may need to want to head to the waiver wire to optimize your lineup.

With that in mind, consider these waiver options as Week 14 playoff options.

Game On For Garoppolo

I’ve been waiting to write these three words for a long, long time now.

Start Jimmy Garoppolo.

After throwing for nearly 300 yards in his first start for San Francisco, Garoppolo faces a Houston team that has allowed the second-most Fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. The Texans have given up at least two touchdowns four times in the past six weeks, and at least 300 yards in three of those contests. This is music to the ears of potential Jimmy G owners.

Following a week where he led the 49ers to five scoring drives — all field goals — the Eastern Illinois product should be good for 250 yards and two touchdowns, putting him on the QB1 and streaming radar in Week 14.

It looks like the 49ers may have found their quarterback of the future, and you may have just discovered yours for this weekend’s slate of games.

All Eyes On Eli vs. Cowboys

I didn’t think these words would flow from my fingertips again, but Eli Manning is a startable Fantasy quarterback this Sunday.

After one of the strangest weeks in New York Giants history, Manning was again named the team’s starting quarterback and is set to face a Cowboys defense that has given up the eighth-most Fantasy points to the QB position this year. That same defense has given up two-plus touchdowns in each of its last five contests and 250-plus yards in three of those five.

With Manning back under center, I think we could see some vintage Eli this weekend at MetLife Stadium, landing him squarely in the high-end QB2 conversation.

Boom Or Bust Week For Lions Big-Play Threat

Kenny Golladay has topped 65 yards just once this season. He has more than three catches also once this year. Since returning from a hamstring injury, Golladay has exactly two catches and between 44 and 64 yards in each of the past four games. Yet, the Lions third-round pick is a boom or bust streaming option this weekend.

Golladay played a season-high 76 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in the team’s Week 13 loss to Baltimore. And the team is matched up with a Buccaneers squad that has given up the most Fantasy points to the WR position this year.

While Golden Tate and Marvin Jones are sure to have big games, there should be enough to go around for the Lions’ big-play threat. I expect Golladay to go boom and set new career highs in yards and catches against Tampa Bay’s 31st ranked secondary on Sunday.

Start The Seahawks’ Starting Running Back

Mike Davis, who played more than 70 percent of the Seahawks’ offensive snaps in Week 13, is in line for the lion’s share of Seattle’s backfield snaps again this weekend.

Coming off a game where he totaled 101 yards on 20 touches, Davis should again have a near every-down role in Week 14 against Jacksonville. With the Jaguars giving up more than 100 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving per game on average to running backs this year, Seattle’s newest flavor of the week is an RB2 this weekend.

Making Davis even more enticing is the likelihood that he keeps the Seahawks’ starting gig for the foreseeable future and, thus, the remainder of the Fantasy playoffs. Place him atop your waiver requests for Week 14, and ride Davis to a title.

Time To Try Texans Tight End

Stephen Anderson popped onto the Fantasy radar in Week 13 when he tallied five catches on 12 targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in the Texans 24-13 loss to the Titans.

While he caught his first touchdown of the season, the second-year tight end is quietly averaging 14.6 yards per reception this year. With injuries to several Texans pass catchers and Tom Savage doing his best Checkdown Charlie imitation, Anderson should again be very involved in Houston’s passing attack.

Facing a San Francisco team this weekend that has given up six touchdowns to tight ends over its last six contests, Anderson makes an intriguing tight end streamer for this weekend’s Fantasy playoffs.
