Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery is an interesting guy in Fantasy Football circles. Montgomery started 2016 as a wide receiver for Green Bay. Once Eddie Lacy was done for the season, Green Bay took an alternative route at the running back position. Instead of going to a traditional running back fill in, the Packers turned to wide receiver Ty Montgomery.
I can remember clearly saying there is no chance in hell that I am picking this guy up. Why would I roster a wide receiver turned running back? “Mike McCarthy has lost his ever loving mind,” is exactly what I thought. Montgomery performed much better than I thought he would. In 2016, Ty Montgomery carried the ball 77 times for 477 yards, an average of 5.9 yards per carry, which is not too shabby in a limited sample.
